How to update the right side portion of the homepage

A step by step guide demonstrating how you can update the right side block of the homepage.

In your browser, go to the page you'd like to update

  • You will reference this page throughout the process.

Login into Admin

  • Open a new tab in your browser window.
  • Log into your Magento admin panel.
  • Select CMS > Static blocks.

Static Block Search

  • Under the Title column, find HOME PAGE HERO - RIGHT SIDE
  • Select the block row.
  • Scroll down to the Content section.
  • You will see there are comments to mark where you can edit.
    • Header
    • Subheader
    • Subheader with the script text.
    • The call to action (CTA) button.
    • The background image
  • To edit the content, simply type in the new words into their respective places.
  • DO NOT change the HTML code.
  • ONLY UPDATE the content in the spaces noted in the block.

Uploading/Adding Image

  • Properly format image to 1400x933 pixels or an aspect ratio of 6:4.
  • Image file size must be 250 KB or less.
  • Once you have the image prepped and ready, you need to upload it to the media folder.
    • Above the Content area, select the Insert Image button.
    • Scroll down and select the members-furniture folder.
    • Please make sure to upload your files ONLY to the folder dedicated to your website.
    • Select files from your computer folder, by clicking on the Browse File button.
    • Click the Open button to add them.
    • To check if the image has been successfully uploaded, scroll down to the very bottom of the window, a thumbnail of the image should be present.
    • When files are listed, click the Upload Files button.
    • Go back to the content area, by closing the media upload window.
  • You can now paste your file name into the HTML code.
  • Scroll down until you find the background-image file path. It will start with https.
  • Once you locate it, go back to the folder on your computer, copy the file name and paste in place of the current image name.
    • ONLY EDIT the image name, not the directory (file path).
    • Example of image name: family-couch-hero-02.jpg.
  • Once complete, go to the top right of your content window, hit the button named Save and Continue edit.
  • Once the page reloads, it is finished saving.

Checking Your Work

  • To make sure updates had been completed, go back to the page on your website.
  • Click the refresh icon in your browser window.
  • You should now see that your content and image have been successfully replaced.
  • If everything is working correctly, you can now close the updated static block in your admin dashboard.
